This course is designed as an introduction for persons interested in employment opportunities in the emerging green building industry. Individuals with hands-on experience in the construction and/or remodeling industries will benefit from this training.

Energy Assessor/Auditors inspect, survey and analyze energy flows in a building or system with the objective of understanding the energy dynamics of the building as a system. Energy Assessors/Auditors seek opportunities to reduce the amount of energy input into the system without negatively affecting the output(s).  The instructional content introduces basic terms, concepts, formulas and equipment used in constructing, analyzing and verifying energy efficient measures in new and retro-fit construction projects.  

Upon completion, students will have a base knowledge of energy efficiency concepts and its application within a work environment. This course will prepare individuals to sit for the Building Performance Institute (BPI) - Building Analyst Exam.

Basic math and computational skills will be repeatedly addressed.

Salary Range: $15 - $17 per hour for entry level positions with potential to earn more with additional training and experience

This 68 hour training includes:

• Basic building science

• Building envelope analysis

• Heating and cooling types

• Energy usage

• Overview of energy auditing

• Introduction to the diagnostic equipment

• Math and computation skills

• Combustion safety

Requirements to register for this Quick Jobs class:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Basic Computer Skills
• 1 - 3 years of experience in Construction, HVAC, or Installing Insulation
• Take a WIN Assessment and demonstrate level 4 skills.

Latex gloves, facial mask, safety goggles and a flashlight.

* Students must earn a Career Readiness Certificate by the end of course training.
