Admissions Policy

GTCC has an open-door admissions policy. The college is open to anyone 18 years of age or older or high school graduates younger than 18. Admission to GTCC does not guarantee acceptance to the program of your choice or guarantee continued enrollment in the college.

GTCC will only recognize high school diplomas from regionally accredited schools, private high schools, or home schools registered with the state of North Carolina. Students not completing such a program must complete the GED or attain an Adult High School diploma through an accredited institution.

Approved Regional Accreditations

Bring your transcripts with you when you come to GTCC for registration. All students must be able to provide documentation that they have met the pre-requisites of the courses they want to take.

Students should have official high school and all college course work transcripts sent to the Admissions Office within the first semester/term of attendance*. Students are responsible for requesting their official transcripts from other colleges or institutions they have attended.

Official transcripts are appropriately "sealed", and mailed directly from the school where the credits are earned.

Once received, transcripts for students applying for a degree, diploma, or certificate will be evaluated during the first semester/term of enrollment.

*Students may register for a class, before transcripts are received, provided a transfer course is not a prerequisite for the class.

Any questions concerning incoming transcripts may be directed to the Admissions Office at (336) 334-4822 ext:50161

Note: Incoming transcript(s) from other schools become the property of Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) and may not be released to third parties, to include applicant.
